Baxters Loch Ness Marathon & Festival of running 2008

Event organisers are delighted to announce that a range of limited edition Baxters Loch Ness Marathon merchandise has been developed in partnership with GORE RUNNING WEAR™ and Run and Become. Runners keen to take part in this year’s marathon on 5 October still have time to secure a place by participating in support of one of the event’s nominated charities. A total of £436,150 was raised from last year’s Baxters Loch Ness Marathon & Festival of Running, benefiting hundreds of charities and communities across Scotland and the UK. There are also guaranteed places available for club runners.

Baxters Loch Ness Marathon has six nominated charities – Highland Hospice, Leonard Cheshire, Macmillan Cancer Support, Maggie’s Cancer Care Centres, Marie Curie Cancer Care and the Scottish Community Foundation – and runners can opt for one of them or choose from over 35 other associated national and Scottish charities.

Baxters Loch Ness Marathon starts on the south side of Loch Ness, following a spectacular route north through stunning Highland scenery, and alongside the loch, before crossing the River Ness to finish in the Inverness Queens Park Stadium. The Festival of Running also incorporates the Baxters River Ness 10K, the new Healthy Working Lives 10K Corporate Challenge and the Baxters River Ness 5K Fun Run finishing in the same arena. Highlights of the Festival include a pre-race Pasta Party and a festival of Highland food, live music, massed pipes and drums, charity and sports retailer stalls, as well as children’s entertainment.
